If you've found your way here, you may already know that my name is Bill and I enjoy writing songs about God. If you did not know that, well now you do. I hope to be faithful with the songs I write. I'm not sure I know how to do that, but I think this website is a start. It contains the lyrics, chord charts, mp3's, even the stories behind the songs. And it is all free to you. So look around. Enjoy. And thanks for stopping by.

The King of Love My Shepherd is

download chord chart // download mp3

(verse 1)
The King of love my Shepherd is
whose goodness faileth never
I nothing lack if I am His
and He is mine forever

(verse 2)
Perverse and foolish oft I strayed,
But yet in love He sought me,
And on His shoulder gently laid,
And home, rejoicing, brought me.

(chorus)
My soul, You’ve restored
And my cup, overflowed

(verse 3)
In death’s dark vale I fear no ill
With Thee, dear Lord, beside me;
Thy rod and staff my comfort still,
Thy cross before to guide me.

(verse 4)
And so through all the length of days
Thy goodness faileth never;
Good Shepherd, may I sing Thy praise
Within Thy house forever.

I love cyberhymnal. It is a great resource for those of us who pick out songs on a weekly basis to be sung congregationally...and have already met our monthly quota of Hillsong United songs.

I found this old hymn that I had never heard before. Maybe it is well-known. I don't know. Having been born and raised Catholic, I have found that many hymns considered well-known by everyone else are brand new to me (and vice-versa).

Mark was teaching that Sunday on John 10:1-30, the Good Shepherd passage. This hymn fit perfectly (it comes straight from Psalm 23). So, I picked up the banjo...wrote a simple little chorus to add to it...and had my wife sing some sweet harmonies. I was pretty happy with the outcome.
